HELLO THERE, Dear friends, My recent conditions and my Birthday Wishes It has been one whole year after my operation to remove the brain tumor, staying in hospital 27 days and was discharged 9th April last year. The operation has been a success in removing most of my tumor, and I have to attend regular medical check-ups for neurosurgery; eye and endocrine. At present I have recovered up to 60-70%, my eyesight is back to basic standard allowing me to see enough and to shoot photos. The recent MIR shows there is no change in the remaining tumor, which gives me hope and confidence planning to roam around the world once again to shoot pictures of badminton tournaments. I hope to meet you all in the coming May's Thomas and Uber Cups Finals in Wuhan, China. I have also started coaching badminton again although on a limited basis as doctors say that I must not over-exert myself. Please permit me to take this chance to thank all my friends who visited me when I was in the hospital; friends who were concerned of my progress and well being: and who bestowed so many many blessings and good wishes to my Facebook*, and, of course, last but not least, my never-enough heart-felt appreciation and gratitude to all the medical staffs, the Angels (nurses) who have worked so hard taking care of me during the whole critical period. I started shooting pictures of badminton in the early 1980s, and would you believe it, it has been almost 30 years now. I love the sport and have been involved in all it's aspects, and TODAY being my birthday, my Birthday Wishes are to continue shooting pictures of badminton for 20 more years, or, till I can't move..….. if just only to enjoy every moment of meeting all my friends on court. My further BIRTHDAY WISHES ARE ..........WORLD PEACE, GOOD HEALTH AND GOOD WILL TO ALL MANKIND. LONG LIVE BADMINTON AND ALL THOSE WHO PARTICIPATE IN IT. Also, on my birthday, I would like to share with you some happy news which I have kept as a secret for a year. Soon after my discharge from the hospital last year, I was presented with a Golden Cradle Award『金搖籃獎』** by the Hong Kong Elite Athletes Association during their annual dinner. The award is normally given to those people who have achieved either high sporting performances or to Sports Leaders; Renowned Coaches; Officials who have contributed a great deal to local sports. And now I, the ever humble self, have only contributed some photographic documentaries for the Assn ever since their establishment was founded on late 1990s. I feel extremely honoured to receive such an Award but at the same time I am a bit nervous as I am neither an outstanding athlete; nor leader; nor famous coach and official. The Award was presented to me by Miss Chan Ah-king. She is my idol and she was a world famous volleyball player in the 1980s-1990s. She is now the deputy head of the Sports Authority of China, Hong Kong branch. I am really proud of getting the Award. And on Jan this year I received yet another news which is more surprising than above and came completely out of the blue …… but , may I come back to you on that later? say, end May? Please, my dearest friends, your kind indulgence is sincerely sought. As always, I treasure every moment of our every meetings; chatting with everyone of you. And now, as per usual, I give you my Battle Cry again ..... "Watch Out World, Here comes the New Whirlwind Edwin, FULL OF BEANS".
